Questions about the work, pricing, and how Vela runs

What exactly arrives each month?

Finished deliverables, not raw output. Depending on your scope: a P&L summary with plain-English variance notes, keyword research and optimized pages, writer-ready content briefs, email sequences, a campaign calendar. Everything arrives by email, formatted and ready to use.

How are you this much cheaper than an agency or a hire?

Because the process is efficient: internal tooling, including AI-assisted drafting, handles the repetitive first pass. A person then reviews, corrects, and signs off on every deliverable before it ships. You get agency-grade output without agency overhead, and you will never receive an unreviewed first draft.

Are you an accounting firm?

No, and we don't pretend to be. Vela prepares management-use reports: organized, CRA-aware summaries that make your numbers legible. We work happily alongside your bookkeeper or CPA, and many deliverables make their job faster too.

How does pricing work?

Every engagement is quoted individually, in Canadian dollars, as one agreed monthly amount. There is no price list because the same request can be a small job or a large one: what moves the number is your volume, your cadence, the state of what we're taking over, and your deadlines. No setup fees, no long-term contracts. Engagements continue month to month and cancel with 30 days' notice.

Why don't you publish prices?

Because any figure we published would be one we'd have to walk back once we saw the actual work. A business with forty transactions a month and one with four hundred are not the same job, and pretending otherwise means either overcharging the small one or under-scoping the large one. You get a real number after one email instead of a number that turns out to be a starting point.

Do you build websites too?

Yes, from a fast informational site through a storefront with hosted checkout and SEO foundations built in, up to a fully custom build with a backend, integrations, and motion design. Builds are a one-time fee plus monthly upkeep, both set in your quote. You own the domain and the content either way.

How do quotes work?

You write to andrew@velaworks.ca (the quote page pre-fills the message for you) and we reply within two business days to set up a short call, where we work out what you actually need. For a website build, we then send a working prototype and revise it until you like it. Only then do you get the written scope and price, and nothing starts until you say so. The figure is a ceiling, not an estimate: it doesn't drift after you sign, and anything outside the written scope is quoted separately before any work happens.

Where is Vela located?

Canada: remote-first, serving clients in every province. Financial deliverables are formatted with CRA requirements in mind, and SEO work targets Canadian search behaviour specifically.

What happens to my data?

Your data is used only to produce your deliverables. Engagements include a written scope with data-consent terms, and we maintain Quebec Law 25 awareness for clients with Quebec customers. We never resell or repurpose client data.

Can I change scope later?

Yes, at any month boundary. The natural route is starting with the reporting, seeing what a clean month-end feels like, and adding the search or marketing work when you're ready to grow. A scope change means a revised written scope and a revised figure, agreed before it takes effect.
